| 26/08/2005 | All users of churcharmy.net were emailed by Neil Thomson on 15 July and 27 August giving advance notice of the change over of the domain to new servers. As mentioned this will have a major effect on all webmail and POP3 email users. The change is now due to take place between Monday 29 August and Friday 2 September 2005. Mail forwarding - this will happen automatically and users need not do anything. All mailboxes currently forwarded will be set up with forwarding only (aliases). POP3 Mail collection - uses who collect mail with outlook, Mozilla etc, will need to change settings as follows: New mailbox settings
OLD mailbox settings - access still available for a limited time.
Webmail access - the old SquirrelMail is not on the new servers (we are transferring to Windows servers) and so there is no direct export/import option. Users MUST save any emails and addresses etc from their webmail as these will be lost once the old data is removed in September. New webmail
OLD webmail - hopefully access still available for a limited time
Web space - the new server has a more professional setup allowing for users to have a wide range of options on their webspace. All users of webspace can have various options and will need to transfer their sites to new space BUT will need to contact Neil Thomson to arrange this to be set up. Sites will cease to be live from the change over. Full web hosting facilities are now available to any user, costed per user. Neil Thomson |

New webmail service The new webmail is much better (in my view). When you log on you are enter just your full email and password, and then go to the Inbox. Other folders are listed down the left side, and across the top are tool bar buttons for Get Messages, New Message, Search, Address Book, and Settings. Early on in your use please go to Settings and complete any blank entries you want, and alter any settings. Along the left here you will also see "Accounts" which allows you to pull in mail from other email accounts, Also Forwarder which allows you to send a COPY of your emails to another address, and Auto Responder which allows you to reply to emails automatically, and set some rules as to when this kicks in. More details on facilities will be posted in due course. Neil |

New webmail service Some good news ... I have found a way to transfer your address books from Squirrelmail. Rather than start to do all of them, some of which I know are blank anyway, I will transfer any webmail address books on request. Each needs a little processing and file format conversion before importing so it is not a quick job for the whole domain, but does not take long per person. I have taken a copy of each of them as at 14:50 today (Saturday) and will use these files as the import ones, so any changes made after that time will not be transferred over. |

All users who have mail redirect and those with full mail accounts who have notified me of their passwords have their settings set up on the new server. This will provide seamless cross over when the DNS records change. |

All user accounts have now been set up on the new server and are waiting for the transfer of the domain name. The start of Domain Name Server settings changes will begin at around 10pm tonight (Sunday) and could take up to 48 hours for full cascade through the internet. Users will find they are not able to log on to email accounts or web hosting services with their current settings and should follow the instructions above. |
| Remember your logon username is your full email address in the form of fullfirstname.surname@churcharmy.net | |

Users who have not notified Neil of their preferred password will need to ring the number included in the email of 15 July, (or email via an alternative account). EiT log on details are can also be obtained from Yvonne at College. |

There seems to be something a little odd happening with churcharmy.org.uk (Sidcup email server) at the moment which is causing a number of Admin System emails to be sent out to CA folk, including a number of .net addresses. This has nothing to do with churcharmy.net |

DNS changes initiated |

The DNS changes are well under way and all services are runnign nromally. Most users should now be getting mail from the new server but please check the old server for mail. Please be aware that email with the subject "MailServer Notification" is not coming from us and is not related to the change of services. These started before we made any domain changes and look like an error on the CA mail server at Sidcup. |

Mail SPAM filter has been installed over night and now marks suspected SPAM with [SPAM] as before. This IS marking some legit mail as spam. Users need to log on to webmail to set their own custom whitelists (OK mail). In webmail this is under settings, Anti-Spam. |
| 12/09/2005 | Things all seem to be running OK. A few people have yet to confirm their passwords. The Old Squirrell Mail will most likely cease to be accessible from 30 September. This is not fully in our control so take anything you need from there asap. |
